NEET Updates Every Applicant Should Know
Every aspiring medical professional must attempt the NEET or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the NEET every year. The NEET is an offline exam, so it is a pen and paper test. Students have the option of answering the exam in 13 languages. The language options include English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Marathi, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi, Urdu, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. After the exam, the NTA declares the result and provides each student with an All India Rank (AIR). Based on the rank, students can opt for entry into their preferred medical, dental, AYUSH or other recognised university or college. Dates
As per the latest announcement by the NTA, the NEET will take place on Sunday, 12th September 2021 at 2 p.m. IST. Registrations are open until 6th August, with application fees payable until 7th August. Candidates can make corrections to the particulars in their application form between 8th and 12th August. The city examination centre will be announced by 20th August. Candidates will receive the admit card three days before the exam.
Locations
Given current travel restrictions, many students cannot travel to India to write the exam. To ensure that everybody has a fair opportunity, the NTA decided to conduct the NEET abroad as well. So, Indian students based in West Asia can sit for the exam in Kuwait City or Dubai. Registrations for the exam are open until 11:50 p.m. on Friday, 6th August. Students can pay the application fee any time up to 11:50 p.m. on Saturday, 7th August.
Reservation
On July 30th, the Government of India implemented new reservation rules at the Under Graduate level for All India seats for MBBS and BDS aspirants. The new reservation will come into effect in the upcoming academic year, 2021-2022. As per the new regulations, the overall reservation for All India Quota seats will be:
O.B.C. (non-creamy layer) – 27%
S.C. – 15%
EWS – 10%
S.T. – 7.5%
PwD – 5%
Paper Pattern
The NEET is a 3-hour paper that has 180 multiple-choice questions. The questions cover physics, chemistry and biology. You can expect 45 questions each for physics and chemistry and 90 questions in biology. All candidates have to provide their answers on the given OMR sheet. Each question has four answer options.
Marking
You can score a total of 720 marks in the NEET as every correct answer is worth 4 marks. For every incorrect answer, you will receive a negative mark.
